Have just had the headphones on for the last hour listening to Radio 2 and the Rory Gallagher story. Brought back some memories. The kids at school don\'t believe me when I say I\'ve never been in M\'cDonalds or KFC or any of them and the last time I was in a Wimpy was in 1970ish and who did I sit next to ? The man himself. He had been playing at the City Hall and I\'d been watching. He was waiting for the train. I was waiting for the night bus. Chatted for quite a while. Precious moments.

Tony,Taste was Rory Gallagher, Rory Gallagher Band was Rory Gallagher, so no real difference. If there was a difference with Rory it is that he never really \"softened\" with age. That same raw basic sound remained. Was playing golf today with a record publisher from the smoke (do I get around or what) who as a professional music man admitted that his CD collection was, like mine, a duplicate of his 70\'s vinyls. Rory was one of his heroes. Everyone seemed to love him. Sad loss.

I seem to remember seeing him at \"Rock on the Tyne \" at Gateshead in 1981, with Dr Feelgood and a few other decent musicians.

Norman I also saw him at the Mayfair. He played a set with the support groups amps and blew the lot after a couple of numbers. He promised he would return to make up for it and we all got replacement tickets at the City Hall where he played for over 4 hours. Remember it was a long walk home.
