  • HELP i am looking for a new career

I am looking for a new career opportunity and wonder if anybody can help me with my query as I am very interested in starting a new career within the Renewable Energy Sector.

I recently took it upon myself to undertake the courses required to work within the wind turbine industry. The courses were working at height and rescue training (TTS5U) I also completed my personal survival techniques (PST) and also gained my Offshore Medical UK Waters.

I appreciate that I have no relevant working experience within this Sector but as previously mentioned have gained the basic courses required to start a new career within this sector

My current position is a TSCO (traffic safety and control officer) and on site supervisor.
Listed below is a just a few of my current responsibilities:
Check scheme has been installed to the agreed standards.
Check method statements, risk assessments, drawings.
Check scheme is maintained in accordance with contract requirements.
Co-ordinate and organise workforce during installation, any changes and removal of scheme.
Check that scheme complies with contract required standards.
Check that scheme has adequate safety zones and that these are maintained and delineated for workforce and members of public.
Check that site operations do not compromise members of public and workforce safety.
Liaise with all emergency services and on site personnel in the organisation and co-ordination of emergency procedures.
Keep written records in relation to labour, plant and workforce qualifications.
Maintain a site diary to record all traffic related events ie, breakdowns, incidents, near misses, queues.
Record discrepancies, changes and remedial actions.
Attendance of regular site progress meetings and other issues raised at said meetings

If anybody can help me with info,or contacts i would be very grateful

    THANKS FOR LOOKING Neil.....

I'm at the Newcastle College Energy Academy at Wallsend and we keep keep hearing that it is only a matter of time before there is a big expansion in this industry. Have you tried SMD - Homepage or OGN Group : Reliable Solutions for Offshore Oil & Gas and Renewables on tyneside or Narec | Renewable Energy Technology, Research and Development are closer to home for you!

you could always come to us for a foundation degree in renewables

with your experience mate it might be worth doing the nebosh health and safety course as it sounds like you have the skills already the oil and gas industry is health and safety mental and any company that supplies them are constantly audited by them to ensure they comply to their zero injury programme
