Wagners \"Tanhauser\" album from 1845 was excellent, but for pure power the 4 CD album, \"The Ring\", released in 1876 can\'t be bettered.
Puccini did release a couple of really good albums, though.....\"La Boheme\" in 1896 and \"Tosca\" a few years later (1900), both recieved critical acclaim. However they were regarded as slightly too much on the \"pop\" side. Strangely enough though.....THEY contain some of the most remembered (and covered) songs of the time.Comment
