Morning all, Seaham carboot (strawberry firlds) starts up on the 2nd of april, I was wondering if it can be a good source of tackle n such? Has anyone had any decent bargains from it?.

Not been for a couple of years but seem to remember a fella who had a fishing stall, although that could have been a mirage from the heat and weight of all the quality tatt i bought.
You know,i have one simple request and that's to catch sharks with frickin laser beams attached to their heads!!

There's a few characters who regularly turn up at boot sales round the region and try to sell cheap tat at full retail.
At least one is quite adamant that the shxxe he's peddling is top notch and will happily argue with anyone who disagrees.

The truth is, if you want to buy decent tackle from a boot sale you're going to have to hit lucky and to do that means going as often as you can until you find what you consider to be a bargain.

I've picked up a few over the last few years but never from the "wannabes" only ever from genuine characters who are clearing out unused or unwanted tackle.

I hit lucky with a lad at Corbridge last summer, he had a load of stuff, mostly tat but with a few dozen packs of sidewinders and loads of bubblepacked treble hooks which were ideal for spinners. I sat for nearly half an hour sorting through boxes of stuff and spent £20 but came away with stuff worth about £70.

Regular attendance and /or plain good luck; simple as that really.

        Cheers

        Steve.

Thanks people for the replies, being new to it i'm not confident eneugh to know a bargain/quality etc to part with good money.
Shall stick to NETS and Rutherfords for time being.
