You thinking of Paul (Hiram A Biff if I remember correctly) who used to make the Canny Links? I remember him posting about sore hands when he used to make them but he has since sold the patent to Tronix

Alright Reg don't think he's posted on here for a long time. His forum name was Hiram.A.Biff, if you search the forum for canny links he might have given an email address for people to contact him back when he was selling them direct

Patents are funny things Reg. They cost a lot to file and more to maintain. Plus, once you've filed then anyone with a commercial interest can try and get it canceled whilst at the same time finding sneaky ways around the design and wording. Unless there's little money in it and no one wants to copy, or there's a lot of cash to be made with enough spare to pay for attorneys to defend the patents then they not always a route to riches.

If you still think the idea has merit and something unique no matter how small or unusual if it stops others copying it you could still file. But you can only file for an invention if it is novel and inventive, posting a picture on the web or sharing any key details of it is considered disclosure, removing the inventiveness and will prevent you filing for a patent.
