  • Massive fire in Shepards Scrapyard, Newcastle.

Only just heard but there lots of pics going around and the fire is MASSIVE!!

Hope no one is injured/hurt. Fire is still going really bad and theres fears that 2000L of fuel will go up in smoke. Here are some pics... I will upload more as I find/get them.

As passing ice cream van didn't miss an opportunity, pulled over and started serving the onlookers
          Cheers, Keith.

Hopefully there's no one hurt in the incident.

This could result in an increase in scrap lead prices!!

To be honest when a seen the smoke cloud a thought the worst, thinking something had happend at Newcastle Airport, after whats been said about all these revenge attacks after they killed bin laden.

That or somebodies put to much into there summer BBQ!!

Could see it from the Newsham end of Blyth, I thought is was a large-ish fire at the south end of cramlington at first from where I was standing - shows how huge it must have been to have actually been all the way over at Byker.

At least they've sorted it now, there dowsing it with water till 9am this mornig, then checking it with there infrared camera (thermography) to check for any hot spots that could re-ignite the fire.

Hopefully it wont come to that, the firemen did a cracking job evacuating people and putting the fire oot. Good job that 2000L of fuel didnt go up, would have felt the ground shake if that happend!!!
