i have waited 3 weeks for this rant, tyne tunnel 2 they have shut one and opened another one,not difficult i would have thought, but fair to say i do not have a qualification in traffic management, which i reckon puts me on level terms with the planners of tyne tunnel 2 chaosso what we got if your going north queue at the tunnel from 0630,it used to be 0700 so thats worse coming south minimum disaster scenario is traffic backed up to silver link maximum disaster scenario backed up from silverlink halfway to moorfarm an absolute and utter farce from day one i believe certificates were given to the first 100 through they should give a medal to all the other poor sods that have to use it(and, yes,i know, nobody "has" to use it)the options are nil, hours spent going past the present farce of the bypass(metrocentre) created many years ago,by an eqally unqualified bunch of tossers next option, go over tyne bridge, its a lovely bridge, and you will get plenty of time to look at it,believe me

I was just about to ask anyone if they have used the new tunnel, normally I go to pick my grandaughter up from Wardley 3-30 ish, on a wednesday tea time. normally leave Cullercoats around 2-45pm and have time to give dog a little run when we get there, no more 2.30 at the latest and no time for giving dog a run, still traffic backed right up, that bad the other day, went along bottom road and over swing bridge. On the way back you can gaurantee you can add 20 mins at least on your journey and I come through Jarrow and to the tunnel the back way. When both tunnels are the same size how can the new one take so long, bad planning me thinks, looking at it they have the booths in the wrong place.

could well be right, but the existing infrasructure is the same as it was for the old tunnel, they have certainly made a boobo somewhere, well so what only another two year before they are both open.

Yeah it's because the new booths are well up the A19 and south bound traffic are now backed up to the silverlink, result, gridlock and it's also chaos for the north bound traffic backed up at jarrow, shields and A19 approach with no traffic light control, you've got about 5 lanes of traffic filtering into one, result, again gridlock. And then they had the smart idea of repair work to the whitemare poole roundabout which has componded the chaos. And I read their shutting down the metro from tynemouth to byker (or somewhere around there), again adding to the chaos. I honestly think they either have a major communication problem or their simply incompetent. Why can't the idiots plan and program their works properly in order to cause minimum inconvenience.

rant 2 ho ho ho the situation is not good but it is not helped by numpkys in cars who dont know which lane they want to be in(they are all bad) then theres the tossers class 1 who get to the booth and start looking for change, now they are the absolute cream of the crop, that lot,all of them depriving a village of an idiot

I love a good rant, everyone is entitled to one and I've had a good fair few myself! This one was a cracker, well said!!

I only use the tunnel when im back visiting my folkes and its always been a nightmare.... but not nearly as much as that roundabout trying to get to the cinema at the silverlink, i've always been backed up there for 30 minutes when using it!

I must thank the rescue services at the tunnel though who bailed me out of the **** when my car broke down just before passing the toll booths! I can only begin to imagine what people thought of me right then, although luckily it was quite quiet at the time!

I've been working up Ashington since October , and travelling back to Easington was taking 1hr through the old tunnel , this jumped to 1hr 30mins on the opening of the new tunnel due to traffic backing up, we now go the A1 past the Metro and it takes 1hr 10mins. Its a farce the way it is set up i think TT2 stands for THICK Tw**s 2.

My advice is if you are travelling south around 4-5 o'clock go the A1 route and save yourself £1-20 and a long wait...

Agree lingking, you've got to have eyes in the back of yer head with some of them (the irresponsible ones that is). The ones I'm talking about have no regard for the highway code, flying across the carriageway without signaling, running red lights, etc. etc. and like you say, hit a one and you'd be straight downtown. If RSA can be looked at for regulation why can't road using cyclists also!
