This year we decided to try Eastern Europe and come just in Summer to the North East. We did Gdansk at Easter and Budapest last week.
What an amazing city, exactly like the picture postcards you see. Wizz Air do cheap flights, we booked an apartment for under £30 a night and the beer, food and cigarettes are so much cheaper then here. £2.50 for a pack of fags!!
We bought a Big Bus 2 day tour of the city for £18, which included as many hop on/offs as you like with 27 choices of stops, a night tour, a river cruise and 2 walking tours. Now Lynn being Lynn noticed that at no time during the 2 days were our tickets checked, they just asked if we had them, so against my better judgement I let her convince me to keep using them, so we got 5 days straight!
Anyone who is thinking of going should definitely do it, the city is wonderful.
Not so wonderful was Easy Jet from Luton to Glasgow, here is the surreal conversation I had with the check in girl.
EJ - "Do you have a camera, laptop or IPad in your hold luggage?"
ME - "Yes, I have a camera."
EJ - "You will have to take it out and put it in your hand luggage."
ME - "Why?"
EJ - "It's the rules."
ME - "Well it wasn't the rules flying down to London with your airline, or
with Wizz to and from Budapest, so why now?"
EJ - "It's the Lithuanian batteries."
Me - "But I bought them in Hungary."
EJ - "It doesn't matter where you bought them, they can't go in the hold."
Miffed that my joke got no response whatsoever, I continued.
Me - "What is the difference between having batteries in the hold or in the cabin?"
EJ - The hold is, you know not thingied and it gets cold and Lithuanian batteries can explode."
So you heard it here first folks, don't buy Lithuanian batteries, they may explode if it's cold!!!
