Got caught once when I went to pay mine. The dvla form said one figure then at the post office where I went to pay the dosh said it's gone up following the budget so had to pay extra dosh regardless of what the renewal form said. Tax increases come quickly but decreases come slowly. That's England.

Let's face it, all motorists in this country are going to get screwed left, right and centre forever whether it's road tax, insurance, parking or whatever. Automotive industry in this country is still big big business so if the taxes were relaxed a bit then you'd see more sales which would generate more work in the industry for manufacturers and suppliers to it. Then following that you get more employment and wealth and happier people. The Germans know how to do it.
