feels like it. had minus 19 t'other night

in all this snow so far the one big big plus is there's been little or no wind yet

last year that same bit of road was under 15' of snow well into march

hmnnn.... long range forecast ain't good

the track up to ours has gotten packed down to about 8" thick... which has now melted a bit and is just ice with water running on top... on a 1 in 5 track with a hairpin and a few other bends....

just been a passenger in a 2 and half ton sledge cum dodgem car (land rover discovery) I was the driver for a very brief moment, then could do little more than enjoy the ride!

when that freezes in the next few days its going to be very interesting!

back to cold cold cold next week, then snow snow snow. its going to be a very long one this winter methinks

classic case of supply and demand going on out there at the minute - on the 15th November Dumpy Bags (1 tonne) of Rock Salt were £89...if you can get them now some suppliers are charging £165+ for the same

4 weeks ago I went and bought 10 bags of building sand to make up some rough concrete for a drive repair.

Last week spent 2 hours clearing the drive of snow and the path outside to the road edge, used 3 bags of sand to make sure the car would grip on it. Just got finished and lo and Behold alongs come a grit wagon with it's plough down (first one since the snow began 4 days earlier) and it pushed all the ice and snow and slush back onto the drive entrance I'd just cleared and gritted.

There is moral to this tale - If everyone takes turns and starts clearing there drives/roadsides you can guarantee a grit wagon will appear.

In the end up to thursday I used a total of 8 bags continually gritting back to the road, now it's thawing I'm going to brush it up and shove it back in the bags for re-use later.
                Here fishy, fishy!
