Some knockout photo's posted recently, a lot of thought and time gone into them. i'm sure they're appreciated by all members. Has nesa ever published a calendar?
one thing to point out is that "normally" we don't suffer this kind of weather in the UK (apart from those in the bundu) so our services aren't set up for it
If we were to start getting 2-3 months of "proper snow" (like we're getting now) on a regular annual basis then we would have cause to make comparison to Russia, Canada and the like...fact of the matter though is that currently these are "freak" conditions
...but I have yet to see a bloody gritter

Gritter and snow plough is going past my place in Pity Me Durham three or four times a day. Side streets are a mare but Durham council seems to be doing a pretty good job of keeping the main roads and bus routes going.
TGW is spot on with his comments, other places expect this kind of weather and are geared up for it, hence no disruption in Canada, Norway etc. We would have to invest millions to cope in a similar way and I can't see that happening for what are still rare bad weather occurances.
