Osmotherley show 1st August 2015
Had never been to this show before as I had been told the scurry was done on a timed basis, better information gave me that is was on a points basis but if there was a tie after a run off then the time would also be taken into account. After success at Saltersgate I was going to take Lewis again but unfortunately he couldn't make it, so off Fergus and myself went. The open course consisted of one dummy fired out of a launcher quite a distance over a gulley into long grass, and then a blind retrieve from behind some tree branches in another part of the field with a total of 10points available. After watching a few dogs have a go I thought we could do alright, so we entered the fray. Off Fergus went getting the seen dummy and returning over the gulley. Then off for the blind, had to stop him and point where he should be going, at most other events we would of maybe dropped a point for me having to stop and turn dog. Got our score 7 out of 10, judge explained that Fergus had gone off line a bit coming back over gulley (found easier way) had left start a split second before I gave the command (telepathy) and one point off for me stopping Fergus, judging was very strict, which didn't bother us, in fact it was better for Fergus as he is quite precise in these events while other dogs aren't but still get the same points, so no doubt the other dogs I had seen lost more points than we did when I thought they had done well. We had another go after a rest and some lunch but couldn't improve on the score, but at the end we where still clear winners.
