    Tributes to trawlerman

    Published Date: 09 August 2010

Tributes have been paid to a teenage fisherman lost at sea after his boat hit a passenger ferry.
Daniel McNeill, 16, from Tynemouth, went missing after his boat was in collision with the Scottish Viking Ferry five miles off the coast of St Abbs near Eyemouth, Berwickshire, on Thursday evening.

Despite a rescue mission the Coastguard has said there is no chance of finding Daniel alive.

This tragedy reinforces just how dangerous a job commercial fishing is, i did it for 7 years and have known men who have been lost at sea or fatally injured whilst doing it.
My condolences go out to his family.

The fisherman was one of two people on board the Homeland fishing vessel when it hit the Scottish Viking off the coast of St Abbs in Eyemouth, Berwickshire.

Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.
