  • TV Presenters fishing

Just sitting here browsing the forum and I noticed the youngun was watching a program by that Hugh Fearnley posh bloke. He was on a wee boat fishing and he was pulling in one bass after another (or Sea bass as he called them) The thing is, he was chucking them in the fish box still alive and the camera kept going to the fish box and there was about ten lovely bass still gasping for breath and writhing.

Made me so mad, surely he could have knocked em on the head first. He took 49 and the general way he was going about it was pretty awful really, holding em up by the gills etc . Makes me sick to see bass, or any fish treated in that way unnecessarily. Sorry for the rant, just had to get it out

    Cheers

Haha! Class! Well anyone can call themselves a conservationist. I dont believe anything I see on TV or read, but I hate it when folk on TV like him are seen to be handling fish in that way.

The kid watches a lot of fishing programs on Discovery Shed channel and it really boils my p**s when I see a presenter holding a fish out the water and talking to the camera for ten minutes whilst the poor thing is gasping for oxygen. I like to get my fish back in the water asap. Maybe I am just being over sensitive, I dont know

I remember watching something donkeys years back, some Americans were shark fishing, wife said "they're not going to kill the poor thing are they?".... I replied "no, they always release game species...." guy got a huge one upto the boat, at which point the captain goes and gets a briefcase - I'm thinking tagging.. no, pulls out a magnum and pops a hollow point into one of the chambers Next scene, the usual with it hanging by the tail for the photoshoot at the docks.

aye this kinda think boils my p**s , even tho am a fisherman a treat the fish with as much respect possible

i very rarley keep any fish and if i do will dispach them as quickly and humanley as possible

99% of the time tho a carfully take the hook out and help fish recoved before releasing it back to grow bigger and hopfully a bit more clued up when it comes to hooks

H F-W not killing fish cleanly is not on really, I mean how hard is it to take a priest with you. Mine and a retractable bungee reel thing that clips on your belt. drop it in your pocket and when you need it - Smack! one clean killed fish - humane and instant, it always p*ss*s me off watching Trawler programmes seeing then dumped into a hold onto a conveyor then slit open to be killed. I know the old "time is money" thing but seriously knocking them on the head instead of suffocation isn't that hard.
                Here fishy, fishy!
