Picked the car up and had a look under the boot the tupperware reservoir mahooney was all full of lovely pink stuff, little while later coolant level was dropping, took the cap off and the inner bit stayed put - the rotten little

I didn't realise Euro had branched out to cover most makes/models now, handy to know that.

The scrapyard at North Shields beside the recycling centre seems to have newish cars in.
            Cheers, Keith.

the new style corsas suffer the same problem, seal gets jammed and ive tried alsorts to get them out, everyone has resulted in a new expansion bottle and cap, most covered under warranty but not cheap when they are out of it.

Got one! Thanks for the advice gentlemen. Just waiting for the petrol in the parking sensors to cool down before taking an axe to the bit that's stuck in.

I mentioned it to the AA man I had to call out last week (Ł140 as I wasn't a member - am now ) after my car made funny noises and wouldn't start while I was parked up in front of the boat lake at Herrington Country Park.

"Have you been listening to your radio sir?"
"Why? Have they just introduced a free AA membership deal on Radio 1 for fat men with veins on their face?"
"No sir, your battery is flat"

Fair play - I thought I'd get me moneys worth and asked if he could sort my dodgy cap out (Aye give awa), He said no but did say be careful no bits fall down?? So I am going to wield that axe like an astronaut wearing unicorn skin gloves - wish me luck

I had been listening to my radio Norman, for a quite a while, the man at mission control even asked me! I should maybe have suspected a battery problem when I thought - I may be here sometime let's wind the windys up just in case there's a catastrophic failure. The window crawled up and then stopped, leaving just enough gap for the rain that was forecast to get through. As there was still clicking and farting noises coming from the relays on the fuse panel compound area I had gently RIPPED out from under the passenger glove compartment . The rascals knew me batteries had died all along. The man in the van marched towards my car with a big vehicle defibrillator thing, shouting stand back, stuck on the electrodes "Clear" Boof and away she went.

we got IT people at work that do things like that as well, with shouts of "Stand clear of the keyboard !" then poof and it re-boots ........
a miracle of modern science (and a big salary) ....

Well the bit that was left in has now been chowed to death, I've probably ripped the threads on the inner neck expansion tank region to buggery as well. (Jamie, ya weren't rang so ya must be reet) Car's going nowhere the morra, just trying to work a good yarn to get the AA out. Car is parked up outside the house and there is obvious evidence of molegrip damage and hammer burns. Any ideas how I can get the AA blighters out? I can push the car a few hundred feet down the road, when I say push I mean steer, while me Ma tests her new metal spine out.

A nice man is coming round tomorrow to remove the screwdriver from "The Chamber of Coolant" neck area and put the head back on my hammer, someone else is coming out to fix the neighbours window.

I've bought a new expansion tank bit as well just in case, just need to ring him at 9:00 in the morning and he's coming out.

So that's that goosed then, 9 a stupid clock on a saturday, the man's a head banger
