Opinions welcome on Windows 7 as I'm getting a netbook tonight and I need to chose between Xp and Windows 7 as the operating system

Every Windows i have had i use classic menu's etc, easier to use & a lot faster. The start menu has everything in, my computer on the desktop etc. You could use the same settings in every version of Windows until now. I did computer work for a living & will again when i move to Canada but i have not once recommended Windows 7 to anybody. It lasted 2 hours on my machine, it is supposed to be a "fixed" Vista but it isn't as user friendly as Vista & as for speed, boots up a little quicker & thats about it.

I tell ya man, ubuntu.
if you really can't shake off the windows addiction install em both
you can run Ubuntu inside windows or alongside windows
if you want a netbook for doing 'internet' stuff Ubuntu will do everything you want to do, its linux, its many times faster, with zero viruses & zero spyware, looks and feels right, is intuitive enough that anyone thats never used any flavour of 'nix at all can turn it one and be doing stuff instantlyʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ.

Starter edition is basically a lite version with limitations. Depending on what you use it for a lot of people will find it good, where others like myself don't. For mainly surfing the net it will be perfect for you.Originally posted by The Great Wallsendo View Post
