With pheasant, just pluck a few feathers from the breast to reveal the skin. Tear the skin and pull apart to reveal the breast. Cut down either side of the breast bone and remove the breasts. I dont bother with the rest as there is very little meat.

that one was - right through the neck - about 250 yards, .22 rimfire, hollow point rounds.

got a rabbit right in one side of the head at the same range - dunno where the other side of its head went though

Done it many a time Brian, trouble is with the .22 or the .17hmr it tends to decapitate them - no good if you're gonna hang them by the neck The hard part is getting the buggers to stay still long enough, not like a rabbit where you can whistle and they sit up nice for you.

what's the best way to cook 'em? (rabbits)

slow cook so that the meat falls off the bone stylee? or take a bit of time and take the meat off the bone?

We just have them in a casserole Tony, a couple of handwipes for while your eating and Bob's yer uncle. I don't think it would be worth messing about taking meat from the bones.

Casserole is best as Jim says, place jointed portions in casserole dish with onion, carrots and good beef stock. My grandad makes bunny burgers, quite tasty too!!

I will have to go and see my mate, I used to get Rabbit's off him regularly. I've not had a Rabbit casserole for years now. Talking about food is making me really hungry lol, it's not helped by the smells coming from the kitchen either. I've made a Leek potato and Ham soup and it's just cooking now, an hour or so and it will be ready, some crusty bread with the soup should help to kill the hunger a bit

                  Jim.

if they are decent sized bunnies its not too bad taking the meat off the bone, I usually just bone the back thighs and the saddle.

                    rabbit curry is canny

all this meat talk is making my stomach rumble...just need to now convince the little lady that a .22 rifle is an investment for the future

if you've got a FAC I know of a nice .22 semi auto rimfire coming up for sale with a 100 round magazine and monster tele sights

Ideal for lamping, loving the .17hmr for the longer shots though.

Tony, if you apply for a FAC you must have a gun safe that is out of sight and ammo must be locked away seperately. Tell SWMBO this and she may change her tune. You can also purchase trigger locks etc etc.

I'll have it, need one for work

I work in an office btw, sit opposite the boss so a shotty would probably be the best bet though
