I have been advise by NESA that someone has tried to log into my NESA account 5 times. They have failed so far but it is worrying.
The IP address has been trace to "Chinamobile".
    Anybody else been attacked.
In there nothing NESA can do to prevent these attempts, because there seems to be a lot of them recently reading the forums.

Anybody can try to log in to someone else’s account so there is no real way it can be stopped. Most of the time it is not actually a real person doing the “hacking” but a BOT (computer programme) The BOT will target a forum and try to log-in to your account using passwords like “qwerty” “abc123” or the most common password – “password” …you’d be amazed how many people use password as their password, I’m guilty of it when I first started on computers.

NESA admin could install BOT prevention controls which is pretty easily done depending on what platform the forum uses but the only admin I think is Elton who never seems to be around. As these computer bot programs work off scripts they cant "think" so a common way around it for forum administrators is asking questions on log-ins...bots cant answer these.

So yeah, the BOTS can be stopped in the most part but you can never prevent an actual person from having a go at your password…much like you can never really ban a person from the forum permanently as I.P address scrambling is so easy now. You can be extra secure by using a password like “E7xd5Apsnb” but as long as you’re not using something daft like “mypassword” then you should be ok on NESA at least, I really can’t imagine any large scale attack on a small fishing forum.
