  • 48 Hours!?

Pet hate of mine is insurance that you never ever need to claim on but yet you still pay it out - then when you do need to claim they shaft you on the small print

Dropped my mobile in a rock pool last week - hands up t'was my own daft fault...As I would have had to pay an excess I tried to dry it out over the weekend.

Turns out I had breached terms & conditions by waiting more than 48 hours to report it - depsite trying to do them a favour

I'll prob get nowhere on this but I'm going to get my monies worth out of them by causing them a paperwork trail that should hopefully equate to at least a few months worth of the £5'ers I've been paying them
    Ooh a new vid!

Bit late, but if you're a Barclays customer they're Additions Plus current account has a load of nice things chucked in free - mobile phone cover is one of them (but you need to register each of your phones), they also do free RAC breakdown at personal level (ie any car anywhere if you're driver or passenger), free will writing, plumbing cover - which includes boilers provided they're serviced to manufacturer schedules.

Well that is the rub isn't it surely? what if i "manage to dry it out"? it works again and then report it broken again surely I should be able to claim??

Or what happens if my broken phone is "nicked" or "lost" which could happen? the thief isn't to know it's broken and it's still my property and is covered by the insurance....

I shall be putting these scenarios to them in due course

Tony, there was an idiot when we were on holiday, forgot he had his mobile in his pocket and walked into the pool. Got out ten minutes later, realised it was in his pocket while getting dried. Luckily I managed to get it dried out after a couple of days in the sun and it was working perfectly again

The worst thing people usually do after soaking a phone is switch it on to see if it's working, better off removing the battery asap and waiting till it's dried out.
            Cheers, Keith.

Aye Keith, for some strange reason the screen had gone blank so I took the battery straight out and put it on the balcony window sill for a couple of days. Put the battery back in and it was working Not all of my numbers are on the sim so I was panicking a bit lol.

              Jim.

                    Sorted

When I first spoke to Orange on the 23rd they said they would refer my call and "get back to me within the hour"...

LOL...I've just rung them tonight, spoken to Kimberley (very friendly young Lady round the corner at Silverlink) and wondered as to why I was yet to hear anything...

She did a very canny interpretation of the rules on my behalf in that "well how were you to know it was broken until after you'd tried drying it out"

She got back to me within 40 minutes and all is sorted - new handset in my hand before lunchtime tomorrow

Have had this before where I've rung up and got one answer, only to ring up again later on and get the answer I wanted

Bonkers barmy I tell you - ne'mind all is well

Steve - it was the replacement for the one I dropped on the boat that I've just broken
