I read an article recently where the correspondent was bemoaning the fact that Jersey have introduced a 5 bag limit for bass. I thought a 5 bag limit sounded entirely acceptable, I mean how many bass can you eat in a day, and we are all fully aware that bass are a slow growing species compared to cod or mackeral. It's heartening to read so many posts on here promoting a conservation based catch policy, especially after the furore with licencimg and article 47 where the threat of bag limits had many up in arms"And I looked, and behold'a pale horse; and his name that sat on him was death, and hell followed with hi, and power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword and with hunger, and with the beasts of the earth"

just caught up with this one, the whole record system wants revamping, perhaps all boats should carry a camera for catches such as this, i know if i caught that beastie i would not be the one putting it back, i would still be pinching myself an hour later, however back it would go without coming out the water
regarding bass, i took and keep one years ago that was over 10lbs, these days i would take a pic if i had a camera but it would be going back, to be honest it was not the best bass i have tasted - 3/4 pounders are far better, same applies with big fish of any eatable kind, i take enough to feed me and the family and no more, i get a kick out of putting them back - even mackerel, they spoil too quickly on a warm day
dunno bout stringing people up, education would be better, if that dont work then string them up

[QUOTE=matchman;177140]Why on Earth is it "over to me" ??????????
sorry I should have made myself clear. I thought with you working for sea angler magazine you might have used your position to educate people not to kill such magnificent creatures like this shark. Just like those who have worked hard for B.A.S.S. and S.O.S. who have tried to stop pointless killing for no reason other than to get their name or picture in print.
Once again I apologise for being naiveinvictus maneo

Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but bring a smile to your face when thrown down the stairs
Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.
