Nothing at all to do with fishing, but I feel I must say something.
As well as giving the blokes\' full name, the street he lives on and pinpoints his house ast approximately 30 yards from the animal shelter he took the pup to.....they also printed a full page photo of him on the FRONT PAGE of tonights\' issue......
......His bed has probably already been prepared at the General.
If he is guilty why have the police decided to take no further action. There is something not quite right here. Is our press leading us up the garden wall again.
This is one of the reasons that I stopped buying toilet paper sorry newspaper.
If he has hurt this puppy he deserves everything that comes his way but as sless has said what about the lads that have had their homes damaged.
Lets not get the U.S.A. mentality. Over here it is still innocent untill proven guilty.
That said if he is guilty. Well never mind.
Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.
Hello Jim. Not too sure about this but I understand that its up to the RSPCA to prosecute. The Police hand over their findings to them in cases of animal cruelty and they, (RSPCA), decide whether or not to prosecute. Strange state of affairs though mate as I would have thought that it was up to the Police to prosecute anyway. Just have to wait and see mate.
A man who claimed youths in a North park had kicked a puppy to death was yesterday arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty.
Paul Foreman, 31, told animal rescue staff in South Shields that he had rescued the puppy from thugs who were kicking it around \"like a football\" in the town\'s Temple Park.
But police yesterday said the dog\'s injuries had been caused in Mr Foreman\'s home and the story about the park was made up.
Police have released Mr Foreman without charge but have referred the case to the RSPCA.
Mr Foreman, of Stanhope Road, South Shields, posed as a caring good Samaritan when he handed the injured animal to staff at St Francis Animal Rescue, yards from his front door.
He said he had rescued the pup from a gang of yobs attacking it near the BMX track on Temple Park Fields, South Shields.
He told staff three young thugs were battering the tiny animal mercilessly, kicking it like a football and throwing her around \"like a rag doll\", which upset his four-year-old son terribly.
But a spokesman for Northumbria Police said yesterday: \"A 31-year-old man who originally brought the injured puppy into the authorities was arrested on suspicion of cruelty to an animal but was later released with no further action, although a file will be sent to the RSPCA.
\"The injuries to the dog appear to be the result of an incident in the man\'s home, rather than caused by youths at a local park.\"
For more than a week police scoured schools and public parks to root out the yobs.
Animal lovers from as far afield as Holland pledged more than £2,500 in reward money and donations to St Francis Animal Rescue.
Inspector Simon Charlton of South Shields Police said: \"I would like to stress that the children we have interviewed in relation to this matter were in no way involved in the attack on this dog.
\"I understand at least one person\'s home has been wrongly targeted because of this, but I can categorically state that these people had nothing to do with it.\"
The RSPCA is considering taking legal action. A spokesman said: \"We will be looking at the file and considering what, if any, action we are going to take.\"
now hes identified its only a matter of time til he gets whats owing to him. i\'m a pretty easy going type of person but scum like this make my p**s boil. can\'t see him being able to stay living in that house, people have long memories, hope hes hounded out.
He has been on Look North tonight and has said that he got the dog as a pet for his son and he only said what he said so the dog could get treatment (as he is on a low income) after his son had been playing with the dog and appeared to have dropped it thus causing the injuries......hmm
Call me a cynic, but if he was capable of lying about the lads playing football with the puppy then why should we believe him now....
There have been a lot of harsh words spoken since this topic began and most of them have been directed towards the youth in the north east. As someone who deals with this sort of problem (the accusation not the subject) on a day to day basis I never fail to be amazed at the hostility of adults towards the kids at our school, sometimes justified but equally, often misplaced and initiated as a way of making a scapegoat out of the most vulnerable and easiest target. If the newspaper report is correct, and I remain increasingly sceptical of all newspaper reports these days, then Paul Foreman is nearer to being one of our generation than he is to 13 year olds (those same 13 year olds at my school raised £400 for NESA for someone they\'d never met) I don\'t see myself as some mamby pamby social worker do gooder but I think more and more we are almost brainwashed by the press into a course of action that pre judges individuals or groups way before the truth prevails. Not all of today\'s youth are disaffected.
Now.... will be up for a few days at the end of October so if anyone fancies a hoy let me know.
I agree David, teenagers today get a bad enough press without the need for deliberately false accusations being levelled at them.
However, as you of all people will know, many of them \"ain\'t no angels\" and there are times when that bad press IS wholly justified.
The location in which the attack was supposed to have taken place is in the vicinity of three housing estates, noted for their youth disorder problems. Temple Park, itself has often been the target for youth crime and vandalism. He chose the right area for maximum \"believability\" of his story.
To the residents of the area, I doubt if the original report of youths abusing a dog in such a way would have came as such a great surprise.......a sickening revelation....yes, but a surprise.....NO.
I know what you mean about being sceptical of what is reported in the press, however on this occasion, it wasn\'t only the public who where duped by his allegations....the media, workers at the animal shelter and the police all fell for it. WHY?......because he chose the right location and blamed those who, over recent years, have previously been to blame for anti social behaviour in that area.
I know we are all too quick to judge at times, but when you have personally witnessed drunken teenagers hanging around off licences and harassing people as they go in and out of the shop, causing destruction to property and indulgence in general anti social behaviour, it\'s not surprising that such a reaction resulted from the initial report.
Having said all that, I think you probably know this age group better than most of us on here, David....after all, you work with them 5 days a week. No way am I tarring ALL teenagers with the same brush....you can\'t generalise when talking about people. I\'m sure that it is a small minority of the total teenage population that cause the problems associated with \"youth disorder\". Unfortunately though, (as in all other situations), it\'s that small minority who get the bad press for ALL.
Well said David, sless and KeithB agree with you all. Iwas going to go on and say an awful lot more but you beat me to it Tony. As I said earlier (and I am not protecting them ) the press are a total pack of W@****s. If they printed facts instead of crap they would do a lot more good.
Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.
In their defence Jim, the press only reported what they were told by the people at the animal shelter and the police.
When I seen the photo and the story on the front page of Wednesdays\' gazette, I was a shocked as everyone else. Couldn\'t help feeling a little admiration for both the reporter and the photographer (who I know), who had to knock on his door, not knowing what to expect.
