Anyone out there claim them? If so, was it a hassle or straightforward?

This is not the Child Tax Credits one BTW...
    Ooh a new vid!

plus your about 3 weeks too late

if you'd done it in march, and you were entitled to anything they would have back dated it to last april

It's got my back right up to honest...there's absolutely no incentive currently for those who aren't working (and who can work and are fit) to go to work as the living is too good

...Vive La Revolution!!! I predict civil unrest of large proportions within the next 5-10 years (if not sooner) the way things are going

My comments do not include those who have been made redundant in these hard times either - I refer to the habitual and perpetual unemployed who milk the system

I was going to give you some advice about the pros and cons of claiming tax credits but after your crass generalisation and ignorant comments on the high standard of living enjoyed by people claiming benefits I've changed my mind.

The term "Vive La Revolution" historically applied to people fighting for the disposessed, the poor, people and families excluded from participating and sharing in the wealth of a country dominated by bullying and greedy elites, small minded wannabe middle classers. I think what you really meant to say was "Seig Heil" or possibly "Arbeit Macht Frei"

Get yourself sacked and join the gravy train is my advice, you prannet

working tax credits - you get them when your working so comments about the 'unemployed' are well wide of the mark

I suggest you pack your job in and go sign on and see for yourself how 'easy' it is - NOT

              Civil unrest of large proportions??

              large proportions of whom exactly?

Deep breaths but I stand by what I say.

Be very careful if you are entitled to Working Tax Credits, there is every chance you will be overpayed and end in a whole world of hurt when you're asked to pay it all back. Keep them informed every step of the way, keep all of your correspondence, I'd even go as far as recording any phonecalls you make to HMRC. Coincidentally I came home today to find a jiffy bagged parcel with a Disc in waiting for me. I'm not expecting any Amazon or tackle shop stuff. Opened it and it's the recordings of my telephone conversations with HMRC that I requested under the freedom of information act to fight our case regarding overpayment. I posted previously that after a long scrap and untold stress we were successful in an appeal, so it was a bit late but .......off for a listen in a bit.

It may seem a bit odd to some that I have been fighting to not have to pay back money we were not entitled to but 2 points.

                  1. Their rules state that if you genuinely believed you were entitled to the money (We did, they said we were and it was a sensible sum) and can prove it was their mistake (It was, we kept them informed of every tiny change in circumstance, our lass had part time, low payed variable hours at the time and every step of the way we kept them up to date. We shouldn't have been given anything in the first place.

                  2. It doesn't make a huge diferrence when you get it it every month, it basically stopped us having to use my credit card every 4 weeks to survive on a pretty basic lifestyle. When you're asked to pay back Ł8000 (payed to us over 2.5 years) immediately or offered stupid repayment terms then it is a terrible situation to face.

I don't want to put people off, I think maybe thats their plan! Lots of people are underpayed as well, you'd never know. A pal of mine works for these conmen and has told me he has to prioritise recovery of overpayment and bury ANY case where money is owed to the family.

Just be careful and good luck to anyone applying, compared to the tax breaks and loopholes afforded the rich, you are owed and deserve this money. It's only the NI and tax your mams and dads have already shelled out.

Cheers for the socialist lectures...and my comments were indeed sweeping - I acknowledge there are exceptions to all circumstances and they were also not linked to the original premise of the topic...

As to the civil unrest...I feel that people are becoming more and more disaffected with the state and the fact they are seemingly there to serve their own purpose as opposed to our own. (which I know is factually incorrect but the sentiment is still felt by people nonetheless) This will in turn result in more mass protests (a la G20) which will be attended by all shades of the social spectrum and not just the radical types - this is just my hypothetical theory I hasten to point out not grounded in research and fact

Don't be calling me no Socialist Willis.

Pains me to say but if you had to put me in a box I'm what's called one of them Anarchists, first and foremost a human though.

Tories will win the next election and make things marginally better for the richer, labour will get back in 10 years later and fart about being scared to do things their great grandfathers fought for, resources will start getting seriously low, there'll be a big scrap between East and West possibly involving nukes, loads of mini holocausts (China will win as they are the biggest and their Dad marched 10'000 miles for summat ages ago - and they can do kung fu) Some kind of sci fi resistance army will rebel against the New World Order (Newcastle will have been relegated, promoted, won a trophy and eventually be annexed to the kingdom of Sundonia) A comet will land in Middlesborough and make the place a bit prettier, we will bring our home to the edge of extinction, there'll be 3 big blokes (and one scaredy women) left who will eventually realise what the options are and start again, to repeat the whole fecking charade again.

Let me sort it out you know it makes sense

The Skipper can do the heavy lifting and dish out the cash!

There's another option you have all overlooked. Lessons for criiminals to milk the system and free fishing.......WHAT!

Cheer's Graham, (hows things mate) I bet they don't send them to Blyth beach on a Saturday night in the middle of January in the middle of a big easterly though. I think someone must have had a couple of tabs of acid before dreaming that one up. It costs me quite a bit to go fishing, when I can manage it
