      many a happy day spent in there, Kard Bar, The Find, Things

      travesty that it got pulled down. Its actually lying in a pile at beamish, the plan was to rebuild it, but it never happened

      Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but bring a smile to your face when thrown down the stairs

      Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.

          Seriously though - how come most of our towns and cities look **** compared to our Eurpean neighbours? They had the nazis marching through and Bomber Harris to contend with? We've got the odd gem but haway? What went wrong?

                I always though the arcade had a funny odour about it, like the smell of a not quite legal ciggy !

                  Blast from the past there Steve. I remember spending most Saturdays mooching between the Kard Bar and Windows in the Central Arcade from 1978 onwards, pretending we were going to buy a guitar so we could try out strats, les pauls etc. The Kard Bar still exists, but I think the legendary status has been lost to the chava community. I still have a look in at McKays and Grott guitars when I'm over that way, but it's just not the same anymore.

                    Nah, smelt like blackpool in its last few years - ie smelt of ****!
