    the other thing about going linux is pretty much any program you would use on a windows pc has a counter part that looks very much the same and does the same stuff, and you get nerd points with the grand kids.

        done that a few times got most on a external hard drive, gets all sorts of messages pages unresponsive is a prime one.

          Windows XP is 12 years old now, it's also no longer supported anymore, and technology has move on loads since.

          For every day work, internet, emails, pictures and videos, then windows 7 is the easiest and cheapest solution.

          Other things such as Apple Mac and Linux have their place, but they are either expensive or complicated to use.
