  • Painter / Decorators???

Help!!! had a go at painting the newly plastered walls & ceiling in our hallway and confimed my suspicions paint & me just don't get along!

How are you supposed to get a nice straight line between the walls (one colour) and the coving (white)???? I've tried using masking tape, just pulls the new paint off and tried a edgy tool thingy from wickes which is useless.

Anyone in the trade or could recommend someone?
    Cheers, Keith.

new plaster eh? did you seal the new plaster before painting it - watered down PVA or something??

might be why the paint pulls off if you didn't!

Cheers lads, the brother in law is gonna have a go for me.

I'm sick to death of this hallway, it's been going on for months.
          Cheers, Keith.

I asked the plaster about that Mark as a lad at work had told me to use PVA, the plaster said just use watered down emulsion, PVA would seal the moisture in.

My dad is a painter and i've worked with him on a few new builds and we use watered down emulsion. You need a few coats on newly plastered walls and as Steve says just free hand paint the joins with a good brush!

Looks like it's coming on canny though Keith. I did up three old houses before I bought a new build and its the worst out of the lot of them, cant even put a shelf up without re-inforcing the walls. The oldies are the besties!.
