  • Cleaver advice please

Lynn wants a cleaver for her birthday, should I be concerned?

Anyway had a look online, but I have no idea really. She wants one for bones as well as meat and vegetables, not sure 1 cleaver can do that? Also a steel/stone for sharpening. Any ideas of what to buy would be appreciated. Maybe up to £70 all in.

    Thanks lads.

    Concerned ?

What bones does she want to chop ?

Just make sure she leaves it at home when you come down here...

Chinese supermarket do nice cleavers and are quite cheap , but keep them oiled as they rust , get a diamond steel if you can , super sharpeners .

Could always ask at the local butcher, sure they'll know.

Cleaver for bones is no good for cutting veg you need a large heavy cooks knife . You can do both with that . A simple oil stone with a rough and smooth side is fine , try russums online .

Thanks for the replies guys. I spoke to my local Butcher and he gave me the name of a Chinese store in Glasgow and some good advice.
