      yes but it won't happen

god forbid that any western government might make a stand against it. They don't give 2 hoots about any moral dilemma re: tibet.

but it would be the end of the world if they did actually make a stance against the corporate greeedheads that is the sole reason the olympics actually still exist. I mean a boycott might result in coke, MuckDonalds, Nike et al getting a few less millions in their grubby little hands.

the tibet dillema is a mere distraction, but as long as they all keep the gravy train rolling. The Olympic ideal is little more than sucking a few more billions into that cancer on the world known as the United States

Like its some new situation that has just arisen. Its been there for 50 years. 50 years largely supported by the same NATO led governments that are now wringing their hands about it, because it was all rather convienient to back the chinese and as a perk get a nice little hidey hole to spy on the ruskies

      sporting event my arse

the olympics will come and go as planned, as will the lives of several thousands dissidents that have dared to voice an opinion, and not a thing more will be said about it

they should all be drowned in a pool of their own excreta

Plenty other countries/regions being persecuted so why draw attention to it now when people have turned a blind eye for years.

As Mark says all down to money and a shuffle of the odd missle here and there.
Probably most of the Talabans armoury was made in the USA
BBC ON THIS DAY | 8 | 1984: Moscow pulls out of US Olympics
In 1980 the USA and more than 60 other countries boycotted the Moscow Olympics in protest at the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
