  • Nesa Charity Support

Over recent years nesa has donated to charity and so far this year I have heard nothing regarding this.

    SO...

Over the last few years my company have sponsored several junior tennis tornaments each year. The thinking behind it is that the juniors are the foundation of a club and therefore I see it as an investment in my future.

Relate that attitude to sea angling and in my opinion the verdict is exactly the same.

Could I suggest that nesa members organise a series of teach ins and a competition over the school summer holidays, funded partially by an auction etc ...but a quick look through my email address book tells me I could contact others who would be prepared to chip in to what is a socially responsible contribution to NE sea angling.

Todays juniors are the futures club members...

Open to debate and suggestion...a few months to get if off the ground...and in my opinion a valuable contribution to society.

Over to you all for comment.

    Cheers
    Dave

      Jim,
I've noting to hide...I've nothing to be ashamed of.

So heres your pm andmy reply as this is an open forum.

      Hi Jim,

I appreciate your pm and totally understand where you are coming from.

I also appreciate the work that you and the forum members have done for charity.

It was only a suggestion...open to debate which is why its better it was discussed now rather than in june. If I had to run every post I make past admin I would never post.

I am 100% aware of the police check thing as that is why I backed out of Ferryhills junior section as my son was too old to fish the following year so it was not worth me taking the checks. Clubs who have a junior section must have the people qualified to run them. It was open to debate as I said.

My comments would be that the RNLI have reserve funds of over 170 million...NE junior anglers have funds of ?

Your hand over night...? expenses paid?...a free be ?...worried about loosing those? A secret meeting? Not told the forum members?

Please ignore that last sentence...its what I get all the time in an attempt to get a better deal for ne anglers...I ignore it

      Clubs need members.

Please re read your first paragraph of this pm...its a forum ..I opened it to comment. That after all is what its all about. You say only post after we have talked about it...who is the "we" I should have talked to ? Thats why I posted it in chat ...to talk about. You say "we" have talked about the future...once again ...who is that we?

Are you suggesting that any proposals that change the way the forum works have to be run past the mods first?

In that case you should see my texts because they also include comments on the forum.

      Forum=debate=freedom of speech.

Are you worried that one forum member could take it in a direction that you dont like? Is there a hidden motive within NESA I am not privy to.

I have posts to make on monday that probably break the law...some of the most devastating bad news I have ever heard regarding NE anglers....but if I have to run them past admin first it just probably aint worth bothering.

You have my number...ring me to discuss this if you feel it is really important. I only have one agenda and thats ensuring my son gets an opportunity to catch the fish I have. I also openly financially support a sport I hate (tennis) which set me thinking about the future and should the forum members want to support the juniors there is more than enough time to put a very public support for juniors in place.

The forum currently stickies a post that is 100% for teaching juniors...has done for a long while...and you pick fault with my post!!!!!

Phone calls recieved tell me that people at a high level are reading this forum because for the first time the NE is speaking out via this and the WSF forum.

Kick me off the forum if you want...but do not try to censor what I say legally on an open forum.

I assume that visiting a museum on tuesday is more important than than visiting Newbiggin?

      Cheers
      Dave

The only charity that we have been involved with on NESA is the RNLI, I am going up on Tuesday to hand over some more money to them at the official opening of the Grace Darling museum to which I have been invited. At the moment we have no plans to become involved with any other charities unless it has been well talked about and all thought out first.

We have had lots of conversations over the last few years about helping children and getting them involved with fishing. It was brought to our attention (and rightly so) that we could have nothing to do with it unless everyone involved had had the obligatory and very neccessary Police checks as it would be a perfect opportunity to have someone start to "groom" a child.

As far as having auctions goes I have no plans at the moment to hold another one as it takes a hell of a lot of time to sort out and run and as you know my health is not at its best at this moment in time and I would find it very difficult if not impossible to do.

I have put this in a PM as it would not look particularly good for the forum having to write this all down in open view.

      Jim.

First of all I have never tried to censor you at all, there was no mention about removing your post from the chat forum. Neither did I say that you had something to hide.

You say you apreciate my PM and totally understand where I am coming from, then you come out with a post like this??

"Your hand over night...? expenses paid?...a free be ?...worried about loosing those? A secret meeting? Not told the forum members?"

That is about as bad as it gets Dave, I have never read a sentence as bad as that in all the time I have been on NESA. I will be driving into Newcastle, picking someone else up then driving up to Amble for the service and a look around the museum. The object of which is to take a few photographs to stick on the forum. As I am sure you will know the museum was recently updated and has been made into a place that warns children of the dangers of the sea so have no fears about me having childrens interests at heart. When I get there I will be handing over the money that was made at our November comp, certainly not receiving any.

My main reason for sending you the PM was the fact that you mentioned an auction, I really think that as I would have to organise this that the least you could have done was to mention it to me before you put it on the forum. As you well know as I met you just a short time ago, I have had spinal surgery and have not been on NESA as much as I would like. The time that I would have to spend setting up this auction would be far too much for me at the moment, as I stated in my PM to you.

The forum indeed does sticky a thread that is 100% for teaching juniors yes you are quite correct. That however does not have anything to do with NESA,

"Phone calls recieved tell me that people at a high level are reading this forum because for the first time the NE is speaking out via this and the WSF forum along with journeys to london".

I am really pleased to hear that Dave, that is what the forum is here for.

            Finally to your last comment.

"Kick me off the forum if you want...but do not try to censor what I say legally on an open forum".

Please could you point to the part of my PM that tried to censor you. I may be wrong but I can't find that part.

A few weeks ago you made a request, you wanted to fish the N v S comp but had no gear. You asked if someone could help you out, I sent you a PM asking if you would like to borrow some gear and you said yes. I told you that you could borrow that gear for as long as you want it. Does that come from a person that is trying to cause you problems or from someone that is trying to be helpful? When I sent you those PMs why did you not post them onto the open forum too or were they not a part of your agenda???

I do know one thing Dave, you say that People at a high level are reading this forum. Well at least now they know exactly what sort of person they are dealing with when they talk to you mate you are one of a kind. I have said this a couple of times before but I will repeat it again now. Only the lowest of the low post a PM on an open forum trying to cause trouble with it. In future before you respond read what you have been sent and do not try to put words in my mouth as everything you have said has been a total fabrication. I for one will certainly not attend any meeting that you have anything to do with as I would not like to be accused of being either a friend or associate of yours after this outburst. You are a very dangerous man who as far as I am concerned can not be trusted.

Now now boys lets all play nicely. If like dave says there are people in high places looking in on here then we shouldnt be in-fighting amongst ourselves. Settle your differences in private, thats what PMs are for. Move on, life is too short.

I realise that Jim sent his message by private message and thats how it should have stayed. What i dont want is for people looking in on the site and finding that we are squabbling amongst ourselves.

                      Jim,
I hope you and Ali have a good day out tomorrow at the Official Opening of the Grace Darling Museum.
Those of you who were members of the site at the time, may recall that we raised and donated £1,000 towards the construction of the new facility.

I was (then) the admin on here - and as such, I was promised an invite to the official opening (this goes back a couple of years). As I'm no longer involved with any admin function on here (hardly ever on at all really), I felt that, when I recieved the invitation through the post recently, I should pass it on to the current encumbant (ie Jim).

These invites were to those who were on the list of the top 100 benefactors to the museum restoration fund......and because of the amount we raised, NESA was one of those.

Such a shame that the "surprise" Jim was gonna post about was let out of the bag

It will be good to see what the efforts of NESA members has actually achieved. I remember way back then when we all had a say in how the money should be spent and it was a deliberate choice to make sure that the money wouldn't disappear into the RNLI coffers but would be used for education purposes. I am looking forward to seeing what they have created and will make sure we have take plenty pics so everybody on here can see too. Jim you better get some slap on if the tv cameras are gonna be there
