  • Blossom

I have never understood the point of blossom trees. They are beautiful, but bloom for 10% of the year and lie bare the rest of the time.

I understand even less our local council's obsession with planting these trees in a cold and windy Scottish climate??

Has anyone noticed the trees seem to have had a second blossom? Or am I being mad???

Either that or they've been in bloom for a looong time!

I've got one in my front garden, as big as our house! We've been here 4 years now and every year the blossom stays on for 4 days max before it starts falling. It does look canny for those 4 days, but at the minute our garden, our car, and most of the street is covered in the stuff!

I think they’re bonny; looking fantastic for a week or two and after that it’s still good to have some. In Japan they have updates on the national news about the when the first ones flower. It signals the start of spring to them and they celebrate with eating and drinking festivals, which cannot be a bad thing.
