Fair to say that the Government in these hard times is doing well not a great deal to help anyone bar themselves and a select minority. Fair to say there isn't a great deal of jobs out there at the minute but I can't possibly see that changing. But a proposed change of putting the national minimum wage up by 5p. Please adding a couple of quid is it really going to help that much, when even finding a job is hard.

Only down south and the rich matter to the torys. Look at the flood situation. Up here they did'nt want to know, people were left to get on with it. As soon as it happened down there they had everyone bar nasa ready to help. Bunch of ****s. There's nothing great about great britain anymore.Regards Nicky.
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.

Good luck in the job hunt Grant. It's tough out there at the minute jobs wise, it was no better when I left school at the height of Thatchers poor bashing regime.People who live in glass houses have to answer the door.

but one thing i do know the powers to be dont give a F**k right from the top (goverment )to the work programmes ,as long as they get a wage to bring in their happy , also there are 1000s of jobs out there unfortunately the employers want people with the relevant experience to do the job, i recently applied for a job kitchen hand / dish washer and and unbelievably was knocked back saying i had no experience so how the hell can i get the experience to to do that i wash dishes evry day
i have a full clean driving licence 37years
An SIA security badge
have driven up eyemouth, birmingham, glasgow west coast of scotland and many other places round the country when i worked on construction i ofetn stood in for security on holidays and weekend
i been a coalman, baker, removals ,garage assistant, road tarmacer and concreter , street lighting for council ,shoe repairer.in timber yards and 2 of the biggest stores in NE fenwicks and house of fraser and quite a few other jobs and stil not got what employers want, (they want experienced workers) , and as ihave been out of work for a long time most of that was as single parent bringing up my daugher from the age of 9months most of employers must think i nothing to offer. P S and i have only been sacked from 2 jobs out of about20
as i said at the beginning there is loads of jobs out there but employers and goverment are not helpin people to get get work they are forever putting obsacles in the way well whether you agree or not that is my experince and view on it
by the way i am applying between 45 50+ jobs per fortnight

totally agree m8,
had welding job's in blyth, and gaffa's have asked if a know this 1 or that 1, and alway's told them if a did, then they would come back to me, "he hasn't got much experience"
well, how are people going to get experience if no1's willing to give them a chance.
but 1 day the gaffa came to me and asked if a knew this applicant, a did.
his answer was, "over qualified"
you can't win can you.....!

My Partner works in a recruitment agency and over the last year they have seen a major growth in jobs so things are on the up. but it is taking time and I know there must be frustrations. What she has noticed is the amount of certain Europeans who are leaving jobs to go back to countries nearer home. This is having an affect as some companies would only employ certain people and the ones who are left are not really what the companies are after.
Some of the legacies from our so called working mans government!!
The biggest down fall was the minimum wage as it set a level what they all pay, before this you could get a bad job then once in work look for something better but all that has gone now as its all the same money, Same as Tax credits which used to be family credit once you got it you could then work some OT to better yourself but under the new scheme if you earn a penny more they stop it from your tax credit, so now you have no way of bettering yourself.
They also put a cap on training so if you have done a NVQ you cannot get funding for another, there are plenty of apprenticeships going but if you have been at college and done a NVQ you cannot go further as you have had your funding. This is been looked into as its stalling a lot of training where there are skill's gaps.
Hopefully it will get better soon and people who want to work can do!
