  • 6500 rocket is slipping

Iv got a abu 6500 rocket, but it keeps slipping when you turn the handle making a clicking noise? Can anyone shed any light on the problem as the reek is almost brand new??
    Any info appreciated thanks

Sounds like it's been used as a winch and the drive gear & pinion have rounded off.
Either that or the drag washers are contaminated & the clicking is the anti reverse.

Ive had it stripped down and nowt looks worn down? Ive ordered a pinion to see if it is that, also what do ya mean by washers contaminated? Should I remove them and clean them or buy new ones?

I had a ht7 that did the same thing. The springs that engaged the drive when you flicked the drive lever were all salted up so it wasnt clucking into gear completely. Disassemble, clean, re-assemble?

            slipping

either to much grease or the grease has went solid on the anti reverse baering and its not locking in place strip the end plate down and clean the bearing in the side plate
old anglers never die -they just smell that way

To me it sounds like the clutch lever arm is bent, quite common on these reels.

Best thing to do m8 is take it back to shop if nearly brand new ??. Or If you are able to then strip the reel completely and degrease everything, regrease and oil what needs doing then put it back together then try again. Does it have an iar bearing in it? If so don't grease that it only needs a little oil hope that helps you m8
