I'm not picking argument's, and I'm not racist,

but topcast, we agree, Britain should close the door's to the influx, and put it's own house in order,

unfortunately, this has nothing to do with thatcher or scargill.......!

My old man worked at Whittle Pit (near Shilbottle/Alnwick) from when he left school in 1965/66 until it closed. I remember the miners strike as a 6 year old boy as my dad managed to get a job working as a warden at Druridge Bay Country Park (a world away from working down the dark dank mine eh) during the strike and I still remember the scab graffiti on the walls of the precinct at Hadston where I lived at the time. My late uncle worked at Ellington Pit almost all of his working life and was one of last to be employed there until it's sad closure. My school bus to Bedlington went past the Big E everyday and the mine dominated the skyline at Ellington so I always have a tinge of sadness when I drive through Ellington and it's no longer there. Before my uncle passed away he told me that there's any amount of high quality coal still left waiting to be mined and it's an absolute disgrace that it's not being utilised and bringing much needed employment to the area. Burn in hell Thatcher!
