I've tried in the summer a few years back as its the only time the water is clear enough. My mate caught an edible crab but hardly a moving target haha. 7mm wetty might be too thick mate, I surf in a 5mm right through the winter as I'm warm in that. Defo worth a shot just remember to buddy up buy don't shoot your buddy haha. Best of luck.

              Where did you try mate?

Another place i got my eye on is on the rock outcrops up at goswick beach..

There is another lad who lives in Whitley Bay that I hope to go diving with, will never solo it. 7mm brr its freezing man lol, will see how i get on with it in April, i got it of fleabay quite cheap so was worth a punt.

Dust ya spear off and we could start a new thread lol

Used to catch plaice and flounder along the shore at Seaton Sluice when I was a kid using just a bamboo cane with a large nail whipped onto the end, was a fun way to cool off and get a meal. Plus side was being able to pick and choose the decent fish.

I wanted to try that spear fishing but I couldn't decide on what bait the spears would take
A bad day's fishing is better than a good day at work

With a name like safety man - you would have to risk assess it and the likely hood it wouldn't be reasonably practicable...... your shout IOSH man
