I just watched it again. the phrase 'headbutt' seems a bit over the top, head shove maybe

FIGHT Alan Pardew HEADBUTT HULL CITY 1-4 NEW CASTLE WTF!!!!! - YouTube

and the initial shove?? nobody mentions that

compare the violent intent in that and the 'head butt'

viewed as whole, could you imagine fergie not retaliating to that, or any manager

if arsene wenger had done it, the media would be be baying for meyler's head on a stick

Hardly a head butt, it's what the players do when the hand bags are out, like stags rutting. Still, you can't act like that especially with impressionable kids watching. I'd have a sore head if I'd reacted everytime I'd been pushed this weekend
              Cheers, Keith.

That was a stupid reaction by Pardew but I would like to see how other managers would have reacted in the same situation. I have never seen a player show such a lack of respect for the opposing manager and pushing him like that so who's to say what any other manager would have done on any given day.
At least Meylar got something out of it, people will know who he is now. I know he used to play for Sunderland but I wouldn't have known him from Adam until that happened.
Oh, talking of Adam, I'm glad that thug Charlie Adam is finally getting charged for one of his regular assaults on fellow players, the FA get's something right fr once.

I thought you would have had a sore head anyway with all that partying

My thought exactly mark! Couldn't believe the way all the pundits have been saying "totally unprovoked" haha... I was sitting there thinking a player has shoved a manager... Fair enough pardew went way way over the top but hardly unprovoked.

Head's okay, still tired and have a dodgy stomach though. God knows how I'd feel if we'd actually won, I'd probably still be drunk.

Not sure I totally agree with some of the opinions on this thread!

No question it has been blown out of proportion and it is rather ironic that some pundits who have a history of thuggish behaviour, like Souness and Savage were some of the first to pillory him.

However, Pardew is the manager of the club and must set an example to his staff. He is also 20 years older than the players and as a mature adult should be able to control himself under the slight provocation, of a push, that he was subjected to by a player very much his junior. He also has history for losing the his cool, not a good sign at his age.

I remember 1994 when Duncan Ferguson, a Scot(and eventually a Newcastle player) got 3 months in prison, for head butting John McStay during a game, when he played for Rangers? That stamped out violence in Scottish football.

The FA have ignored the problem, mostly by players, for far too long.

So look out Mr Pardew, they are coming to get you, justifiably or not.

A course in anger management would not go amiss............................................. ..............You need it!

3 match stadium ban, plus 4 match touchline ban and £60,000. A lot of grief considering he basically missed with his kiss!

I might try and give someone at work a geordie teacake if it means I get a 3 week ban from work then a 4 week ban from my desk.
                            Cheers, Keith.
