thought we'd have a little jolly to see the old girl come in!
bit mad to say the least, big westerly wind and the combined wash of every tug on the tyne, pilots, police, lifeboat and half the rq put an interesting lump on the water on the way down stream, anchored of the herd sands with all the yotties, got bored so thought I'd drop a line over the side - got frowned at loads by the yotties, caught nowt, got bored with the wierd trippy music, kids needed the lavvy, forgot the tea bags, dragged the anchor several times, (so did most everyone), so thought sod this go back for a pint on the zetland, glad we did, she stood off for a couple of hours waiting for the wind to drop, we'd of been hanging around nearly 3 hours, if we waited.
makes you proud to be from the north east though the welcome that was laid on. At the end of the day its just a big cruise ship, coming in for a night, yet thousands of people were out to wave her in. I'd like to think all the posh people on board felt a bit humbled by it all.
still an impressive sight though, finn was chuffed to bits when he let rip with the air horn off the boat and got a blast back as she berthed
