What do you think of it so far? We've got most of the consoles going dating back to the Megadrive but none of the latest three - we've already planned an X-Box 360 for the kids for xmas but with the low price on the Wii I might pick one up aswell if funds are allowing by then...

5150, Jack got the 360 for xmas 2006, and he oves it. We got Gears of War, FIFA 07 and Pro Ev Soccer and although Jack tends to like the footie games we spent the first few weeks trying to complete Gears of War. If you didn't know it's a 'shoot em up' where you and a group of other soldiers have to go around basically shooting evil life forms. It's an 18 cert but the boyo has a pretty level head when it comes to owt like that, but all in all it's a cracking game. There's a couple of the later levels where you can use these bows with explosive tipped arrows and call me sick but I quite enjoyed shooting the bad guys in the kahoonas and waiting a few seconds before seeing them explode out from where the arrow went in. Lol.
Lego Star wars is a cracking game for the kids with lots of puzzle solving and humorous bits for the adults that can remember the films.
We were going to wait for the PS3 but for the difference in price, you won't notice much difference in what it does compared to the X box 360 coming in £200 less!
The Wii as I've said is completely different. Graphically the games are probably on a par with the PS2, but the unique gameplay is great. Playing wii sports is like going to the gym. Play it for half an hour and I guarantee you'll feel it next day!"And I looked, and behold'a pale horse; and his name that sat on him was death, and hell followed with hi, and power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword and with hunger, and with the beasts of the earth"

Cheers guys :-)
red5 - yeah we're trying to get our kids to play a better variety of games, they're all level headed sensible kids but watching the 8yr rack up huge frag counts in quake3/unreal tournament/halo etc is getting a little worrying. When we first networked the entire house we (ie me and the 3 kids, aged 8, 11 and 13) had a bit of a LAN party - I came last!!! They're all mad keen on shooters hence the Halo3 on pre-order but the wii is looking very attractive to try and ween them off their addiction and give me a chance to win at something for once ;-)

5150 divvn't think for a minute you'll beat them on the Wii m8.....Jack still beats me most times......It's not the losing it's the fact that they really rub y' nose in it when they do beat you.....and when that's all the time, it becomes a bit depressing....I tend to play the lass where possible coz she's the only one in the house worse than me.
Definitely worth the money tho!"And I looked, and behold'a pale horse; and his name that sat on him was death, and hell followed with hi, and power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword and with hunger, and with the beasts of the earth"
