  • top & bottom of the league

Not nice being top of the league for arrests, but they're not fans, just drunken idiots who pretend to be fans

these league tables are more representative of fans & team ability

    (feb 2013)
A report by BDRC Continental has found that Sunderland are the league leaders when it comes to empty seats in the Premier League.

Taking into account average crowd attendances before this weekend’s matches, the figures below show on average how many empty seats each club has had on average and what it is estimated to cost that club over the course of a season.

    Sunderland 8,829 (£6,542,289)
    Aston Villa 8,467 (£6,965,800)
    Wigan 6,479 (£4,197,744)
    Everton 3,520 (£3,103,232)

    prem. league table oct.2013

    18 (15) Norwich City 7 2 1 4 5 9 -4 7
    19 (19) Crystal Palace 7 1 0 6 5 13 -8 3
    20 (20) Sunderland 7 0 1 6 5 16 -11 1

Put the league table of attendances up.

Last match 45k plus for a late kick off televised match, not bad for a team as you kindly point out bottom of the league.

Personally attendances don't bother me, I'll always be there and a lower crowd increases my chances of getting a pint at half time.

You should join a SAFC message board, you could be their Stato, you clearly spend a lot of time concentrating on Sunderland.
    Cheers, Keith.

you're right I could join a safc message board, ive had a look after one of my mackem mates told me too, rtg its called, and most of the threads were about nufc!

how many of the 45k turned to to see the man utd superstars do you think?

I don't know if its true, but one of me mackem mates (season ticket holder)
reckons there are still approx 7,000 seats not sold for derby day

they sell out instantly for the reverse fixture at sjp,

Selling your tickets quicker must make you better supporters.

        Got yours?
        Cheers, Keith.

Bit ironic you mentioning people on a football forum making posts about their local rivals when you have made over 100 posts about Sunderland on a fishing forum
          Cheers, Keith.

Yes they're sorted, we're lucky enough to be in a box at sjp (close family member not mine), and the same person that sorts out the box sorts out any away tickets we need, we're lucky enough to be able to get tickets to any game in the country, shame we can't always make it, work & family commitments, even fishing gets in the way. Six of us went last year to sol, (official bus) same 6, with one exception , gong this year.

Not sure it makes us better supporters, but i would say it means the team is better supported.

Nice one! I hope you pay for them, we're the Free Ticket Mackems

I'd say enjoy the game but you'd know I didn't mean it.

For the hell of it here's the attendance table so far this year

English Premier League Team Attendance Statistics - 2013-14 - ESPN FC

Considering the football served up and the lack of trophies nobody can say both north east teams aren't well supported.

Also surprised (this is NOT a dig) Newcastle's average attendance isn't higher I thought they sold out every week, has the capacity been reduced?
                Cheers, Keith.

In your original post I was wondering why you didn't post the whole table, I had a guess who might be in fifth place

                  Sunderland 8,829 (£6,542,289)
                  Aston Villa 8,467 (£6,965,800)

                  Newcastle 2,730 (£2,282,280)
                  Southampton 2,193 (£1,987,274)
                  West Brom 2,923 (£1,838,274)
                  QPR 1,297 (£1,367,686)
                  West Ham 1,046 (£1,142,755)
                  Man. City 1,095 (£1,081,860)

It would be ironic if I had posted that on a Sunderland forum, but on a N.E non-fishing- chat section ?

I'm not sure how relevant the number of posts i have made on a subject is to any debate, There are a significant number of members on here who only joined so they can sell fishing tackle!

I go fishing, I enjoy fishing, i have done for many years, and hopefully will do for many years to come!

All my gear is sorted for this season, ready to go, just finished making a load of sinkers and tying rigs, headlights charged.

I (like many others) don't enjoy posting catch / blank reports, or general chat about which rod or reel is the best, or who can cast the furthest, or how the piers get in a state after the annual summer chavs mackerel bashing (the piers and other marks also get in a terrible state in the winter, not a chav in sight, so all caused by so called "proper anglers").

I do however enjoy a bit of banter about our local football rivalry, as do many others.......

                      Fair play!

Getting back to your original post, the article I assume you took your info from is a bit naff:

"Of course you can’t ignore Newcastle United’s appearance on the list but of this top ten they have easily the biggest stadium and are operating at 94.7% of that capacity."

                      Wrong! surely?
                      Cheers, Keith.

Not sure what article you quoted, this is the one i read. I presume they meant nufc had the biggest stadium in the top ten list not in the prem league league? (sjp 3rd biggest in prem league, 4th in country if wembley included ?)

You do know my original post was a little tongue in cheek, relating to the makem who posted the Newcastle at the top of the arrests table!

safc avg 81 % nufc avg 94.7% of their respective capacity

Man City are in the top ten on that list, Does the Etihad not have a 60k capacity.
                          Cheers, Keith.

it's just a shame neither fans have much too luck forward too, apart from the derby!

Ideally i'd like nufc to do well every season, get rid of ashley & co, improve the squad, and be regulars in europe, and I'd like to see Sunderland struggle at the bottom every season , just avoiding relegation on the last day, maybe on goal difference, and for us to take 6 points from them every season! but it doesn't always happen like that, as we know

No malice intended , i have very good friends who happen to support sunderland (i don't know why, but they do) we go out together, never any trouble, but there's nothing wrong with a bit of rivalry in my opinion.

It wasn't long ago that i was more concerned with man utd's results rather than Sunderlands, when we actually had a realistic chance of winning the prem league! Cashleys only ambition is to annoy the fans and stay in the prem league!

I dont think it's a vintage era to support either club
