there is a shortage mate but i work on the domestic side of electrics and the councils have spent there budget too early AGAIN!!! the start of the finicial year begins in april and the council are holding back on overspending which means that the contractors like myself just have to sit about and wait for them to start new contracts.i have had enough of this so im going to try to get into the commercial side of it.the trouble with that is i dont know many companys that do this type of work so im off out tomorrow with my cv and see what happens sorry for boring you if nowt happens im going to have to sell my body

the council are holding back on overspending
Many are desperately trying to get rid of cash they haven't had the sense to spend during the year. Most public institutions are not allowed to save anything from their budgets. If they do the extra is taken off them and they get less next time around ("well you managed alright on x last year so how's about trying to cope with x-y this time")

Don't worry about signing on Daren, that's what you, your parents, your ganny and grandad and the rest pay national insurance for. Our bosses think nothing of picking up huge "grants" "Incentives" "Tax Breaks" (ahem - benefits) all payed for by our toil. That's business innit!

ring a few building contractors and ask em if they need a sparky and work for yersel

its sometimes needs a bit of courage to make the leap but once your in it neats working for a living!

fingers crossed for you though. Signing on... just think of it as an insurance policy that you've been paying for and need to make a claim so get yersel doon there, even if you only sign on for a fortnight... just makes sure you get yourself to the dentist/optician/prescriptions and anything else you might need during that fortnight

then tell them you're thinking about self employment as way out, but you need a small grant to get you started, mot and insure the car etc

I'd like to think someone can get something back for the gazillions the rest of us are putting in
