Both north east clubs have great support both home and away, staggering really given the dross served up most weeks.
Obviously since sky & keegans entertainers we have had a much higher profile, bigger crowds, big name signings and more "relative" success. Every neutral i have spoke to regard nufc as a bigger club.

I take offence when Sunderland supporters try to score points by bringing the late great Sir Bobby Robson into it, there's just no need.

You were there? Surely?
There was plenty unrest as we could see other clubs overtake us.
However to say Robson was " hounded out" its laughable but not the first time yous have tried to rewrite history is it.

You'll be telling me next that stokoe wasn't sacked after leading you to relegation, and everyone was behind him?
I agree some fans are fickle, I'm not, I have realistic expectations, I have never booed my side off.

bit o' googlerising later
Newcastle 4 league titles ( but last was 1927 )
6 FA Cup wins ( but last was 1955 )
1 European Trophy - Fairs Cup/UEFA 1969 (last trophy)
so Newcastle 11 major trophies, but ages ago!!
Sunderland 6 league titles (but last was 1936)
2 FA Cups ( but last was 1973 )
so Sunderland 8 major trophies.
Sunderland top five premier league finishes: 0
Newcastle top five premier league finishes: 7
Sunderland seasons in Europe: 1
Newcastle seasons in Europe 17
so sunderland last won a trophy 4 years more recently than us, in 1973 versus 1969.
So basically neither of us are big clubs, and both have our fair share of feckwits
did also stumble upon the following factoid:
"Shola Ameobi has scored more goals in Europe than Sunderland AFC have in their entire history. Enough said. 5-1"
who'd a thunk it
(not even gonna go near relagation facts and figures!)ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ.
Thought for the day:
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but bring a smile to your face when thrown down the stairs
Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.
