  • Rip off Britain

Just received my car insurance renewal from Churchill, been with them for years, with legal assistance and protected no claims they wanted just over £400. I went on to THEIR website and input all the data form THEIR renewal form and the price......£189.34. Crooks!!!!

I wonder how many people just automatically renew?.
    Cheers, Keith.

I got my renewal in from Swiftcover yesterday for £263....i did a Meercat search and it said Swiftcover £215

I sent them an email saying AXA could do it for £198 (truthfully) and guess what, within 3 minutes the phone rang and they did it for £198.....

But you are right about people just going ahead with the renewal quote...

Not the first time I've heard of Churchill doing such a rip...and I'm sure it's not just them. For a few years I used to get a quote from the AA, but after a few successive rises I decided to shop around and managed to get a reduction of over £300....AA said they couldn't compete with that so I said bye-bye AA.

I had the same argument with sky you get no thanks for being a long term customer in fact you get a better deal if you leave every year and re join I am with Churchill insurance and found them the cheapest this year but it's my first year with them. I went to pay online and it wouldn't work so rang them they then said your quote is 412 quid when the online price was 310 they actually turned round and said sorry we cant match our own companies online price had to go back online save my quote ring them back up and pay that annoyed me

New customers always get the best deals even when your with the same company it's best to cancel and then renew, also be aware some company's auto renew your policy, so remember to cancel this before your policy expires.

I usually get the 2 cheapest companies then spend a bit time playing them off against each other I got mine down to £750 when I got my latest car. It's not bad for a group 20 car.

                            car insurance - cash back

try a cashback company, I used quidco.com a couple of months ago after a friend recommended it, its free (well i think it may cost £5 a year which is taken from your cashback) and easy to use. I sorted car insurance for my aunt & uncle , ended up getting £60 back on each policy, log into quidco & search for car insurance, most major companies are on there, find the best price and use their deal to get your cash back. Took an hour searching / filling forms in, and took 2 months to get paid, because the claim has to be tracked etc, I didnt expect to get anything but ended up getting £120. paid direct into my account

quidco (or any other cashback site-just google it) are worth a luck for any purchase you do on line. most major retailers are on it.

All in all I've had around £550 back over the past 12 months.

Motor insurance is a rip off full stop, fake whiplash claims, multi million pound organized fake crash for cash rings, cars being burnt out, reported stolen but not, etc etc, once again , a reflection of the people involved , not the country
