  • Virus Warning again.

My wife is an office manager in a school she recieved this message yesterday from one of her bosses.

Don't know if it is a hoax or not but better warned than sorry.

    Subject: URGENT Information
    This is not a joke!
    VERY IMPORTANT WARNING
Please Be Extremely Careful especially if using internet mail such as
Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on. This information arrived this morning
direct from both Microsoft and Norton.
Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the Internet.
You may receive an apparently harmless email with a PowerPoint
    presentation "Life is beautiful."
If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and
delete it immediately. If you open this file, a message will appear on
    your screen
saying: "It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful."
Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC and the person who sent
it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password.
This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon.
AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the antivirus software's are
    not capable of destroying it.
The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself "life owner."
PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS EMAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS and ask them to
    PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY

    Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

It takes about 10 secs to do a search and realise this is another hoax, these hoax,es are all about scare mongering and making people do as you are doing spreading fear, you are doing exactly what they want you to do.like I said at the last warning,
Get your facts straight before spreading the word.
Okay youre intentions may be good, but your actions are anything but.by playing into their hands.

Thank's for that Spike, next time I get a warning (which could be genuine) I will run it past you first eh. That way it will be verified as genuine and by the time I get it back I will be in plenty of time to warn everyone, not.

That is twice you have had a pop at someone on here without any cause at all. If these posts cause you so much grief then I suggest you don't read them.

I don't care what you think about these warnings, don't keep having a go at the people that post them, you could just stop someone from letting the rest of us know about a genuine one.

If you read the second line of my previous post It said that I didn't know if it was genuine or not.

            Jim.

Well actually my point is,you dont have to contact me,a quick google search will give you the verification you need within seconds.
The second point is these hoax,s only thrive by being passed on over the internet, rather like chain letters. For people to pass them on is actually doing more harm than good.
So my pop without good cause is a little unfounded.
Read the link I gave and try and understand where Im coming from.
Do you really think Im having a go just to be nasty.
Like I said, I understand your intentions being good, though a little uninformed.

I've posted a couple of warnings in the past only to find out that they are hoaxes , however I, like the people that recieved my e mail on the hoaxes, and I like to think most on here thought better forewarned in error that not warned at all ,the impulse is to warn others and not to search the net to find out if the report is a hoax .
What if the report you read online isn't true and it turns out to be a double bluff ,things like this happen all the time , BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY , it's an old addage but still very pertinant.

It is true what spike says though, the sole intention of these hoaxers is to cause hassle without even having the small amount of brain power it takes to write and distribute a "proper" virus. We should take for granted a number of things on-line such as such as parental control, not responding to phishing scams etc. Checking the validity of these virus warnings should be the first thing you think about before posting warnings. I think it was spikes tone rather than the info he had which is at fault.

You have answered my post perfectly Spike mate, The difference between the first and second post I have copied onto here is amazing. Read it through and tell me I am wrong.

It only takes ten sconds to sit back and think of a post that will not offend people.
