like the lads say cant go wrong with a slosh 20/30 or a penn 525/535
they cover all aspects of fishing really
if its just clean to mixed ground you also cant go wrong with a
second hand abu mag elite(the green one) fab reels to cast dead smooth
but if your on a budget and want a new reel get a greys mag 6/7 i had
my reservations about them at first but have been given the thumbs up
by them by a seasoned angler who fishes everything with the mag6 down south
and never has any trouble with it at all
hope this helps and welcome to nesa mate

ive got a penn 535 for the rough stuff and thats built like a tank!! could pull in a ship that could! also it can be used on the boat aswell with no worries! the new mag 2s have the same problem as the abu's now the build and gears are
different to the originals somehow will it be different materials or reel
asembly in a different country in regards to the abu's now!

the abu parts used to be made in japan then shipped over the sweden then
                            assembled
now there partly made in sweden then other parts are made in japan then
its all shipped to china to get thrown together
the penns went the same way i think as they used to be made in u.s.a not sure
where there made now but summits off with them
i will tell you how good the build on u.s,a penns used to be!
had a 30+ penn 160 beach reel opened it up and the gears looked like they had just been fitted smooth as silk beutifly made the old penns

All I know is when I started on multipliers I bought a Slosh 30, then proceeded to make more nests than the birds. Couldn't cast it far at all, but great for winching in. Then I got a Penn 525Mag2. Brilliant all rounder!

Welcome to the site mate, I've recently just got into sea fishing, I used to fly fish, I bought all the wrong gear at first. My advice to you would be to pick the brains of the experienced fisherman on here. I've settled with a Penn 525 mag,535 mag with heavier line. Get a rod that that can do everything like kompressor s or ss or if your budget can stretch get a more flexible rod for summer bass and flatties off beach and a RT axcellerator for heavy rock marks. I've wasted to much money on stuff I would only use and out grow like level winds crap rods etc. Buy the gear you will always keep and you dont waste money on stuff you out grow!!!! Ask loads of questions of the lads on hear and take heed, I diddnt and ended up selling on cheap gear and wasting money!!!
