E-mailed Penn the other day and got a reply giving me the phone number of Mike Simons at Penn servicing. I described the problem I had with the spool looking like the gold had been worn off the r/hand side of the spool shoulder. I told him that I do not thumb the spool in any way during casting. He told me that he had heard of this before on a Torque where some sort of chemical reaction removes the anodising from the spool and looks like it has been worn off.
New ''blank'' being sent out to me at no cost. I am not sure if this includes the brake block unit attached, but will have to wait and see.
Very good service and no proof of purchase needed, just took me at my word. Sent a few pics. to him so he can see for himself!
