Now lads, was wanting your opinions on using bluey as cod bait? Never tried it myself, tend to use the more traditional baits, crab, mussel, lug etc. Was thinking of giving it a try over rough ground, single or as a cocktail.. Any shared experiences would be useful.. Cheers.

Seems to be the current fad doesnt it? and not just for cod...
Shops seem to be very willing to sell if and recommend it, but would be interesting to see if anyone has caught on it.
Used it for pollock in SW Scotland this year - nothing, lures fished much better.Best shore catch 2016 - 7.5lb cod, Seaton Carew!

Bluey or mackerel tied in will often sort out the bigger fish - quite a few lads I know who like their winter pig-hunts up the likes of Newton / Craster / Beadnell wouldn't be without it & it's certainly accounted for some big fish. It'll also work locally, sometimes when there's no interest in lug or crab baits…tie in a bit & it'll help you get one or two out.
