Im looking for a local previous boat owner/crew member to help me learn the ins and outs gps and fish finding.Inshore waters.
Boat in Hartlepool marina.
Welcome aboard. Stick a post in the boat angling section, (further up the main Forum page) and I’m sure some of the lads will be able to help you out with it and also if you have any specific questions too.
My advice would be to read as much as you can about boats, boat handling, etc. The RNLI website is a good source of safety info, the RYA site ha details of where to get your VHF ticket, and you’ll get plenty of advice here about how and where to fish. No doubt, you’ll also get some offers to crew for you.
GSP is pretty simple, use it to mark the locations of wrecks and plan your drift. Fishfinders rarely find fish, they do show what the bottom is like, including when you're over a wreck. Find a wreck or rough ground and you have a good chance of finding fish.
