Picked up the "new" car yesterday afternoon, which pleased Lynn no end, as it is the shiniest car she has ever owned, we had a spin around the town and ended up at Tower Hill to admire the views of the car and the scenery. It was a beautiful day and we took some pictures of the North side of the Clyde, where we would be fishing the next day.
She is looking good!
Where we were going to fish today.
The alarm rang at 730am this morning and the weather forecast was, for once, correct, blue skies.............fantastic. Had a lovely cooked breakfast and suitably sated, we drove to Gourock and caught the Dunoon ferry.
Caught the bus to Blairmore (as Duncan had predicted, my idea of Ardyne was knocked on the head). We arrived about 1030am for a midday high tide, only to be met by this sight!
First time in three sumers that we have ever seen a boat at the pier. Spoke to a crewman who told us they had special cruise for two bus loads of Wallace Arnold "Lochs and Glens" tourists. Sailing at 11am, but buses running 15 minutes late. Lynn was not happy!
Anyway after a cigarette and some moaning we set up our new spinning gear and had the lures in the water by 1130am. Being a mackie bash Lynn did her best to dress like a chav!
She loved her Abu Garcia set up, so light, but great to cast. I on the other hand was very disappointed with my Shimano 8ft spinning rod. Not very flexible and poor casting distance, so I am now in the market for a 9ft spinning rod, an Abu Endeavour like Lynn's will be fine I think.
Anyway to the fishing........................... There were no fish!
As I suspected a couple of weeks too early, no gannets, seals or porpoises spotted all day. Never mind the weather was gorgeous, we had a lovely picnic and a few other folk came down to try their luck and we had some nice chats.
With no fish and disappointed with my rod, I resorted to taking a few photos.
So no fish, but a great day out. Sorry if I lead you astray by calling it a catch report, but we did catch the ferry and the bus!
