  • First trip of the Summer on Saturday

Weather this week has been great, sunny and warm, well warmish! Forecast is to be the same until Sunday so we have decided Saturday is going to be our first trip out on the Clyde this year.

Picking up the new car on Friday, so all ready for a trip across the water. A fresh picnic and a high tide at midday - perfect.

We have lovely new light set ups - Abu Garcia endeavour spinning rod and cardinal reel for Lynn and a Shimano spinning rod and a 500RE reel for me, both loaded with brand new 8lb line. We have some spinners, swapped with Codfather145 and a whole load of plastics we bought from The Jester.

I got them out the tackle box tonight to rig them and and noticed a few missing? After a rummage around the clothes drawer I found where Lynn stashed the shiniest ones. She is so predictable!

    The stash.

I am thinking Ardyne (where we have never been) for a chance of a pollock or saithe, but Lynn is for Blairmore as usual. I wonder who will win this battle of the minds?

I am really excited and looking forward to Saturday, but apart from the weather, there is no good reason for my confidence! There are no reports of mackerel in the Clyde yet, or pollock for that matter, my catching record is mince- I have not caught a fish in 2013- so why the excitement?

I suppose that is fishing for you, past record goes out the window, lack of catch reports are ignored and blind optimism takes over. Either you have the bug, or you haven't and those that haven't will never understand those of us that do.

I will report back even if we blank!

Good luck mate , have a bit confidence in ya tackle and lures and picture them in your head when your fishing , it seriously makes a difference and gives you a edge , flick it in the shallows and watch how it moves to tip movement ,
Bit lengthy but tight lines to yous :-)
          I am a fisherman !
It is not merely something that I do
It is who I am !
Fishing is not simply my escape.
It is where I am supposed to be.
It is not a place that I go
But a lifelong journey that I am taking
It is a passage that was shown to me and that I will continue to show others.
When you understand all of this you will then know me .
          And we will fish together

Its always the first place a lady hides something, not as if us fellas need to be looking for anything in there or anything.

Mate if she read these I would have been singing soprano a long time ago. I let her read some other people's threads, but she has never read any of mine. I dread the day she decides to sign in for a look when I am not here!
