  • Tyne estuary

Fished the lower Tyne area tonight with the light gear and spinners in the hope of an early start to the Summer season. Started fishing around 8 o'clock and within a couple of chucks I was into my first lure caught fish of the year, a pollock about 30cm. For the next half an hour I was getting a fish nearly every chuck all taking a small orange spinner (Paul galon special!). It went a bit quiet and was picking the odd one up before the light faded. So 2 species, coalie and pollock. One size coalie kept for the pan weighed 1lb3. Ended with around 10 fish all returned apart from 1. A few lads on the pier tonight including seatrout from the site (nice to meet you!). Others catching but the orange spinner seemed to do the damage. Also pleanty of small stuff getting caught by the lads bait fishing. A cracking way to spend an hour and a half, first summer outing and christened a new rod. Packed in as the light faded and headed home to fillet my catch. Thanks for Reading

Cheers Davy. Aye he had a few on the spinner. I think he's still there now, said he was stopping a while bait fishing.

Great result there... Is it best spinning off the back wall into the open sea, Karl, or casting into the estuary side?....

I find the back wall the best you will get fish from estuary but the bigger pollock are from back wall.
