Plaice was the target of the day.
Fished today from 11-5:30 with blanked again and Pete from shields. Started off on the 42 and was quiet to say the least so we moved up to the 44 and I was straight into fish a small dab and a lovely 35cm plaice. Again it went quiet so had a move up just past the blocks and Davie was into a small coalie.
Again I was into a coalie at 39cm, this was a really full and solid fish I soon followed up with a very small dab. Pete still hasn't had anything at this point but soon after managed a small coalie so we all had fish.

Just as we were packing up I pulled in another dab at 30cm
Baits for me were rag runnydown and bluey

Does anyone know why some dabs also orange spots as the last one I caught had them aswell as the plaice

I had a cracking day even it was just for a tiddler haha, I missed a corker bite that had the ratchet shouting a bit, great company, a good laugh and no one blanked, happy days.

I had one last night that had feint orange spots, maybe not as much as flounders have at times, but defo orange spots. I they can change their camouflage to match the seabed like other flatties, just not as well I reckon. Then again, theyre almost transparent, so perhaps they dont need to so much ;-)
Someone else on here mentioned an orange spotty dab off ssp the other day.

most flats have feint orange spots at times. dabs as youve seen are small and sometimes difficult to see.
