Me and my mate had another short session on the Groyne on Wednesday. Fishing that little tide on the flood. Again plenty of bites on any bait but just small Codling, Coalies and Flounders. Biggest Codling maybe 25cm.

Stuck a big rod out with the last of the winters frozen crab on a 3/0 but the small fish were just pecking away at that. Waste of good bait.

Hit a couple of what felt like slightly larger fish on the long chuck rod but couldn't get them back through the snags. There seems to be a shelf out there ? Anyone else experienced that ?

There is a ledge close in you need to get the fish up a big Chuck helps there as gives you more chance of getting the fish up 2 years ago had a lot of nice fish from there but this time of year your tackle loss to fish ratio is poor I have fished it a lot and find that it fishes.best on a 4.7 tide to 5.1 fishing the tide from bottom up and maybe down a hour use a 7 oz min lead 8 oz holds better

end of groyne on flood always been snaggy, but since it was heavily dredged a few years back when second tunnel was being built, and since then i have found it not as snaggy, still have to have a decent cast and definatetly still have reel like the clappers.

That shelf seems to be the result of Dredging i guess, very difficult to get anything decent back at all. As soon as your Reeling speed slows down, you are knacked.
